ADRC Assistance Request Form For Lumber & Supplies

ADRC Assistance Guidelines (Please read carefully before applying!)

Please note the following assistance criteria. Your application will be processed more quickly by following the guidelines below.

1. ADRC assistance is intended for victims of the flooding in the Evacuation areas within Sumas Prairie. This includes, but is not limited to, migrant workers, indigenous communities, low income families, and asset rich, money poor families and farmers who have been affected by the flood and may not be eligible for Disaster Relief Services or other forms of federal aid. Anyone in the evacuation "order" or the evacuation "alert" area in Sumas Prairie are welcome to apply. [Note: even if you are not back in your home yet, you are welcome to apply]

2. The maximum financial limit will be determined based on A. need and B. the number of applicants. The maximum allowable grant is $12,000, but the amount is determined by the coalition based on eligibility requirements.

3. Financial assistance will be for building materials and supplies that are not being met by other forms of aid. All materials will be supplied exclusively by Blackwood Building Centre Ltd. Please note the items we WILL and WILL NOT fund (if approved):

ITEMS/PROJECTS WE WILL FUND:
- Building materials and supplies for rooms in a primary residence (i.e. lumber, drywall, mudding, plywood, paint, insulation, etc.)

ITEMS WE WILL NOT FUND UNDER THIS INITIATIVE:
- Rental houses or secondary homes,
- Furnaces, electrical, plumbing, contractors, trades, licensing, etc.
- Retroactive funding (for new or unfinished projects only)
- Outdoor decks or detached buildings (i.e. chicken coup, garage, workshop, etc.)

4. All applicants will receive a physical on-site visit prior to consideration by the coalition.

5. All applications should be for primary residences (applications must be from owners, not renters). Please note: We will consider applications on behalf of tenants IF the owner applies.

Disclaimers:
- There will be no cash transactions. All funding will be disbursed through receipts from the vendor.
- Approval is not guaranteed.
- Financial assistance may only be given if it is determined that the damage sustained (loss) is directly related to the disaster and is not a pre-existing condition.

Next Steps

It is important that the Disaster Response Program Coordinator establish, on behalf of the Coalition, a personal and collegial relationship with each of the applicants. To that end, and following receipt of the application, arrangements will be made for a personal, onsite visit with two members of the Abbotsford Disaster Response Coalition.
